South End development surges and this new office building is just the beginning

shonnSouth End is yet another booming neighborhood in Charlotte that has recently been home to a significant amount of growth, particularly with midsize commercial projects looking to house creative tenants.2100 South Tryon, at the corner of Tryon and West Tremont Avenue, is home to a four-story, 83,000 square-foot building that will feature three floors of office space as well as ground-floor retail space. This new office building will be full of amenities in a prime location, making it ideal for Charlotte’s millennial and creative tenants. There is no confirmed start date for construction on the 2.2-acre site, and thus no confirmed completion date.

This new office building is not the only development to hit this area of South End. The neighboring Brookhill Village, which is a privately owned low-income housing project, is being partially demolished and rebuilding plans are still yet to be determined. The Tremont Music Hall, which is located across the street from 2100 South Tryon, was shut down last year, and so change can be expected with that building, as well. Recently, plans have been approved for 350 new apartments near the intersection of Tryon and West Tremont Avenue, along a stretch of land that is currently occupied by warehouses. And on the opposite side of the street from these 350 new apartments will be yet another new apartment building that will be home to 104 units as well as retail and restaurant space.

South End is seeing a lot of change, development and growth. It is becoming ever more desirable, and all of the activity in the area has people really paying attention.
