South End’s new storage facility will be a stunner

Screen Shot 2017-03-18 at 8.54.54 AMThe growing neighborhood of South End has seen quite a bit of development over the past few years. One of the newest projects on the horizon is a new self-storage facility, though it will be a completely different storage building than you are probably envisioning–You know the one, with cinderblock walls and unattractive aluminum doors, and not much more.

Well, this new self-storage project is not only going to be functional, but it will be exceptionally good looking, as well. It will boast an industrial chic aesthetic and in addition to typical storage units, the 120,000 square-foot two-story building will include a wine cellar.

This type of construction project, which previously and typically would end in an eyesore, is going to turn out to be quite the opposite. A recent rendering reveals “arched windows, a brick façade and roll-up doors that blend with the warehouse style building.” It will be the first modern self storage building in Charlotte’s South End neighborhood. South End, which has been growing exponentially with multi-family residential developments, has a high demand for storage units. This new building will help to answer the needs of local residents.

The new building will be located at 536 West Tremont Avenue just west of SouthTryon Street. Construction should begin soon, and completion is slated for 2018.

For more details on this development and what the new storage facility means for South End, be sure to read the full article at CharlotteObserver.com.
